Mutton Handi (Rich & Creamy Mutton Curry) 😋

Ingredients:

  • 500g mutton (bone-in for extra flavor)
  • 3 tbsp ghee (or oil)
  • 1 large onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (pureed)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • ½ cup yogurt (whisked)
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ cup cream (optional, for richness)
  • 1 tsp dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Sear the Mutton

  • Heat ghee in a handi (or deep pan) over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant.
  • Stir in mutton and sear until browned (about 5-7 minutes).

2. Cook the Masala

  • Add tomato puree and cook until the oil starts separating.
  • Mix in red chili powder, turmeric, coriander, cumin, black pepper, and salt. Stir well.

3. Slow Cook the Mutton

  • Lower the heat and add whisked yogurt. Stir continuously to prevent curdling.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add water if needed.

4. Final Touch

  • Once the mutton is tender, stir in cream and dried fenugreek leaves.
  • Add garam masala and simmer for 5 more minutes.

5. Serve & Enjoy

  • Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with naan or steamed rice.😃🔥
